The IBA Buying Group

The IBA Buying Group was founded in 1993 and became limited in 2019.

A group of like-minded independent electrical wholesalers who sought better buying terms without giving up control of their businesses.

It started with just five members and a simple goal: to combine their purchasing power while staying true to their independent values.

Over the years, the IBA has grown steadily — both in size and influence.

What began as a handful of wholesalers is now a thriving national network of over 90 members, united by trust, transparency, and mutual support.

The group has always prioritised fairness, returning 100% of rebates to members and building long-term, ethical relationships with suppliers.

Through decades of change in the industry — from consolidation to digital disruption – the IBA has remained focused on helping its members compete, modernise, and stay independent. Today, it’s more than a buying group: it’s a community, a support network, and a collective voice for the independent sector.

The IBA is proud to partner with the EDA (Electrical Distributors Association) and offers its Members full access to EDA Services, including free access to its EDATA portal.

Sharp-aX will also provide The integrated EDATA module at no charge.
